“How did you two meet?”

It’s the quintessential question asked to every couple, and the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey-dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow. But Lottie Gardner’s meet-cute was a little different. She was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take her as his bride―you know, to make the arch nemesis who just fired her jealous. And billionaire Huxley Cane was conveniently stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong.

That’s when they bump into each other.

No sparks. No fireworks. Not even the first seed of blossoming love.

But the next thing Lottie knows, she’s scarfing down chips and guac, listening to Huxley lay out his problems, and then he tells her: He lied to a crucial client, and he needs a huge favor. A fake fiancée. He’s talking living in his mansion together, going on intimate double-dates, and pretending they’re head-over-heels in love…and engaged.

It’s ridiculous, but people do ridiculous things when they’re desperate. And Lottie and Huxley both reek of desperation. So, she strikes up the deal.

Except her one mistake might be accidentally falling for the incomparable, insufferable Huxley Cane.

I loved this, the characters, the banter, everything! I’m gonna find the next book that tells Kelsey & JP’s story, and then Breakers story after that. I really liked this author, first time reading anything by her. I’ve seen her books a lot while being subscribed to Kindle Unlimited but I am so happy that I finally picked this up and started reading it! Definitely going to be reading more from her. Very light hearted and fun, I loved the banter. I’m pretty sure it was one of the best things about this.

While I loved this book, I feel like we took the misunderstandings trope a bit far. Would it have KILLED Huxley to talk about the things he was doing for her? About their relationship? I liked the characters, (after accidentally reading book #3 first, I knew I would). The premise is amazing, and it was just outright fun. There’s mid-level spice, and the plot does seem to take the large portion of the plot-to-smutt ratio.  It was a fun, fast, sexy read and I enjoyed myself immensely. I will say, though, that I liked A Long Time Coming better, but it was a great book by itself. Still, the characters are great, the plot was well executed and it had a good flow to the writing. For me, this was a four star book.⭐⭐⭐⭐Rating: 4 out of 5. As far as adult content goes, there is sexual content (level five spice), language, and drinking. This one is targeted towards the adult crowd.

Don’t let that cute cover fool you – this is SMOKIN’ HOT, with sexual tension dripping from every page. I was HOOKED from the start, and I devoured it at an alarming rate, even for one of Quinn’s rom coms. And this IS a rom com, albeit a very tense and steamy one. I loved the playfulness and humor of the story, the interactions with our hero’s brothers, the vibrancy of the connection, the push/pull, and sizzle of chemistry. This workaholic alpha doesn’t know what hit him – our heroine is bold and proves herself to be strong and stubborn too. Their connection is absolute FIRE, and I loved the friction between them. It’s a hot slow burn from strangers to enemies to lovers, and I was all too happy to hold on for the ride. The story follows Huxley, a guy who is married to his job. There’s never been anything more important in his life than work, especially since he’s in business with his brothers. So when a deal seems to be slipping through his fingers, Huxley lets loose a few lies in an act of desperation. He claims to be engaged with a baby on the way, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Unsure how to handle the predicament he’s gotten himself into, Huxley’s guard is down when he meets an unusual woman. Lottie meets Huxley while wandering through a rich neighborhood (looking for a rich husband, as one does), and she’s also feeling desperate. The two discover that they might be able to help each other out, and that’s the foundation of their not so meet cute. But as the two spend time together, their clashes begin to escalate – and there seems to be a fine line between love and hate.I always, ALWAYS look forward to new books by Quinn, and I went into this one blind. It’s the start of what I sincerely hope is a brand new series, and I loved the vibe. It’s got tons of humor and great family connections, as well as the sexual tension that Quinn has been ramping up with some of her newest releases. This book is seriously fan-worthy at times, with a torturous slow burn that borders on scorching. Huxley and Lottie have zero problems with their chemistry – it’s their communication that could use a little help. I loved watching this workaholic discover that he’s got a jealous, possessive side, and it rears its ugly head many times. Their path to love has bumps along the way, but I SO appreciated that the vibe remained (mostly) light throughout. It’s certainly not as angst-ridden as some of Quinn’s other romances, which means that cute cover is not inaccurate… this just isn’t your momma’s rom com, lol. I was lucky enough to receive an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy fake relationship romance.

this IS a rom-com, albeit a very cutesy one…..playfulness, humor …interactions with the H’s brothers, Huxley is a workaholic alpha…. the h is bold and proves herself to be strong and stubborn to the point of being obnoxious…. (in my opinion) ……..a hot slow burn from strangers to enemies to lovers…..The story follows Huxley, a guy who is married to his job. There’s never been anything more important in his life than work, especially since he’s in business with his brothers. So when a deal seems to be slipping through his fingers, Huxley lets loose a few lies in an act of desperation. He claims to be engaged also and with a baby on the way, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Unsure how to handle the predicament he’s gotten himself into, Huxley’s caught off guard is when he meets an unusual woman…………………..Lottie is exasperated with her life and so called friends and when she gets fired she and her sister jokingly ..?? maybe .. talk about finding a rich husband on or around the flats …… she ends up meeting Huxley while wandering through a rich neighborhood (looking for a rich husband, as one does), and she’s also feeling desperate. The two discover that they might be able to help each other out, and that’s the foundation of their not so meet cute. But as the two spend time together, they begin clashing….it begins to escalate – and there seems to be a fine line between love and hate.It has tons of humor and great family connections, as well as the sexual tension …..is fan-worthy at times, with a torturous slow growing on each other ……….Huxley and Lottie have zero problems with their chemistry – it’s their communication that could use a little help. he is a workaholic discovering that he’s got a jealous, possessive side……… It was for this reader ….. almost as bad as reading a teenager romance with a lot of sex. It was immature to a degree, it was definitely drawn out, and the characters were just at times very unlikable…….. I think the best, funniest part was the scene with Judith… so so funny and i was laughing out loud…..simply put the book is about …Huxley needing a fiance’ to close a deal ……..Lottie needs needs a rich date to impress her ex best friend/former boss at her upcoming class reunion. It isn’t until after the deal is struck that they realize how much they drive each other crazy, ….the old saying “in for a penny in for a pound,” or something like that……… they are determined to to see this through to the end. They just have to hope they don’t kill each other first – or wind up naked. Cause nothing screws up a business deal like getting naked……… (which they do several times) if I recall…..witty banter and more than a couple laugh out loud moments……

This book is the perfect spicy Rom-Com and I always enjoy the fake dating/fake fiance trope. I devoured it in a day – I just couldn’t put it down! Such an easy fun read for summer and I was literally laughing out so many times during the book. The banter between Lottie and Huxley was perfection and the spicy scenes are perfect.Meghan definitely nailed it with this book. Great characters, great banter, LOTS of laughs and just the right amount of spice.

    Cute rom-com
5 ⭐️ 3.5🌶.This is the first time I read Meghan Quinn’s work and definitely won’t be the last.Wow, I really enjoyed reading this book, truly laughed out loud, the spice took its time to arrive though (don’t know if Meghan is a Slow Burn writer) and when it came it was totally worth it. I specially love when a book shatters my heart, that feeling in my chest… when the hero really messed it up and is trying to get the heroine back, idk it does something in me as if I like to suffer 🫠Huxley and Lottie are everything 😍, once Huxley opened up and showed the real him to Lottie things started getting very well between them, oh and I think he fell for her first. Lottie a very funny, spitfire, kind-hearted woman, who put everyone else before herself, I love her.

Lottie and Huxley Cane, no brainer. I absolutely devoured reading about them. The sweet gestures of Huxley from the start ?!! Absolute perfections🩷𝙁𝙖𝙫 𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙚 :Uhh! So many. But my fav has to be when Huxley brought flowers for his chef since he was attending his daughter’s recital.🥹❤️🤌🏻✨️Also, the scene where Lottie told him she wanted to lie in the rain without judgment. So he remembers that afterward and takes her to his rooftop deck when it rains.😩💓𝙁𝙖𝙫 𝙌𝙪𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨 :”She smooths out your rough edges, and she brings light in the room. Loved this book. I laughed so hard I cried. Never read this author before but I’m hopeful that her other books are as funny and spicy as this. What a great balance she sets. Great characters, story, spice and humor. Not easily achieved. Thank you
