The New York Times Bestseller

Fear. Grief. Loss. Betrayal. Rachel Hollis has felt all those things, and she knows you have too. Now, she takes you to the other side.

With her signature humor, heartfelt honesty, and intimate true-life stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hollis shows readers how to seize difficult moments for the learning experiences they are and the value and growth they provide.

Rachel Hollis sees you. As the millions who read her #1 New York Times bestsellers Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing, attend her RISE conferences and follow her on social media know, she also wants to see you transform.

When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

To Rachel, a life well-lived is one of purpose, focused only on the essentials. This is a small book about big feelings: inspirational, aspirational, and an anchor that shows that darkness can co-exist with the beautiful.

Love this author! I really enjoyed and took lots of pointers from this book as well as her previous books. Love the honesty of the author. She is very relatable and gives great advice that makes you think about your own life. I also like that the author reminds me that so many other are, or have been in my shoes. Covid times were hard… no one was prepared, also no way to prepare for life changes, we just gotta roll with it. This book is one I would read over and over. Reminder that I am sane, most of the time life is just life sometimes.

This book has saved me through the test of times! It’s helped me so much to understand what I was feeling when I couldn’t put it into words just was internalizing everything. I’m so grateful I took the plunge not being a reader or liking to read. I just ordered two more of her books and can’t wait to dive in! Truly an inspirational book to help you when you are down and out. Highly recommend!

Once I got used to her style of writing, there were wonderful snippets of survival advice. This book was recommended to me by a friend that is going thru a tough time. She recommended this book to me because I am healing from breast cancer. So this book gave advise for coping skills for 2 very different situations. This book is for anyone going thru life, and the many challenging situations that are thrown at us.

Didn’t see that Coming is a book of tough topics, but was an easy read. Rachel Hollis always gives timely advice in a format that’s easy to digest.

    Wow! Little did I know….
I bought this book after I’d been through my crisis. Or so I thought. I wasn’t sure why I’d still get anxious or sad sometimes. Then I picked up this book. The first few paragraphs I thought “this isn’t for me, I’m better now”. Then Rachel described the good things and how they will always be good and tears streamed down my face. As Rachel would put it, I’d painted over my old wall but I hadn’t done the work to make the new coat stick. This book helped me deal with things I didn’t know I had to! And it works!

    Superficial
I did enjoy some of the parts where she talks about her own experience but whenever she turns to the reader something is really off. She’s trying to cover everyone’s of her readers possible problems while not only being clumsy but superficial and insensitive about it.For reference I read 1/3 of the book, which must be printed for senior citizens otherwise I can’t explain the ridiculous font size.It seems like she wrote the book for everyone else but herself. Maybe she thought she had to, maybe she didn’t listen to her inner voice that said „no I can’t“ and did it anyways. I can’t imagine what she’s been going through at that time but if you are writing a book and talk about being authentic you better practice what u preach.

    Exactly what I needed
The title of this book drew me straight in as I am currently going through a break up with my fiance after 12 years together and waiting on our home to sell which has been over 8 months. I was experiencing very heavy emotions of guilt and sadness daily and nothing would help. I read this book through twice the 2nd time to complete the exercises. This book was a life saver and really helped me to understand and process the emotions i was feeling a d was comforting recognizing they are normal . Thank you so much Rachel
