MORE FUN THAN GAMES!
There’s something going on at the local video arcade – something totally insane, outrageously hilarious, very sexy and thoroughly entertaining; the hit film JOY STICKS!
This antic romp begins when “The Video Arcade’s” newest employee, Eugene (Leif Green, Grease 2) arrives pantless for his first day on the job. Teenage heartthrob Jeff (Scott McGuinnis, Secret Admirer), who runs the arcade and Dorfus (Jim Greenleaf, Liar’s Moon), the slovenly video game addict, decide to take revenge on the vivacious Alva (Kym Malin, Weird Science) and Lola for tricking Eugene out of his pants with a wild game of “strip video.” But before they can act, King Vidiot (Jon Gries, Napoleon Dynamite) and his sexy troupe of high-tech video addicts invade the arcade and pandemonium breaks loose. In the midst of the chaos, Joseph Rutter (Joe Don Baker, Fletch), an influential businessman, comes into the arcade looking for his daughter Patsy (Corinne Bohrer, Surf II). When he witnesses the madness around him, he vows to see the “den of juvenile delinquency” shut down for good!
Will the city council decide to close the arcade and spoil the kids’ fun? Or, will Jeff, Eugene and Dorfus manage to turn Rutter’s anger with a little help from Alva and Lola? It all comes together in a climatic and hilarious video game competition – with a winner-takes-all bet on the future of the video arcade in this early 80’s cult classic comedy produced and directed by Greydon Clark (Final Justice).

MVD did a fantastic job with this MVD Rewind Collection release of Joysticks. Everything from the audio and video quality to the wonderfully nostalgic packaging makes this an absolute must for the 80s physical media fans out there. If you grew up with movies like this, your library won’t be complete without it.

This is a terrible movie. If you like terrible movies you will LOVE this. Totally inept film making made qui8ckly to cash-in on the video game craze at the time. Stupid, crude jokes. Lots of boobs. Really stupid and kind of difficult to sit through BUT I promise 100% that once seen you will NEVER forget JOYSTICKS!

This is a fun trip down memory lane if your in to the like totally awesome 80’s,or the early days of gaming, the movie was not as good as I remembered it to be, its really goofy and cheesy, and was an independent movie even back then, but it did take me back to the days of the first arcades, when in my town at least, it was a really underground thing, the arcade close to my house was actually a nondescript door in a self storage lot, where you entered in to complete darkness except for the glow of the games lining the walls exposing the mass of paisty teens with mullets reeking of b.o. and herb. I was disappointed with the transfer or print quality with this one, I wish they had remastered it better, I don’t think they made any effort at all, and extras would have been fun for this as well, but I doubt this will make it to Blu Ray and will probably be out of print in the next year, so I’ll take what I can get.

I didn’t see any reviews for this dvd release of the region 2 print of Joysticks. Firstly it should be known this is region locked and will not work in USA dvd or blu players. But there are many work arounds like using yer ps4 and just switch the region to region 2, it will automatically ask u once you try to play this disc. I have a region free player and this played just fine as well as on my ps4…..As for the film this is a great 80s sex comedy for adults with arcade gaming as it’s orinsry focus. I just love this film and st this time this dvd is the most and best affordable way to own it on disc. Visual quality is also great here, this has been remastered and looks very nice and Is also in widescreen. It also includes extras. Worth a spot in any retro film collectors library, and that’s a fact!

I’m ashamed to have ordered this movie. Saw it as a kid. All I remembered was the video arcade and the gratuitous shots of breasts bouncing around while playing video games. Movie came up in conversation so I came to Amazon, which has everything, and ordered it.This movie has to rank as one of the worst ever. To give you an idea of how bad, think 80s, Southern California, Valley Girl, punk rocker, a computer nerd, and a fat guy who has to be at least 450lbs all dancing in a circle watching two women who have clearly seen better days bounce up and down while topless and playing a video game. There, I just saved you 86 minutes of your life and $13.49. Use the money to fund my psychotherapy classes, which I now need, after sitting through this trash 80s movie.

It about a video arcade. People in town think it’s corruption the youth and try to shut it down.

More fun than games.
I remember first seeing this movie when I was younger. The one cable station used to show more “adult” movies after midnight on the weekends (R rated films and sometimes softcore porn lol) Watching the movie years later, it still holds up.It’s the standard raunchy comedy that came from the 80’s (rude humour, swearing and boobs) only in this case, it takes place in a video arcade. For those like myself that grew up going to the arcades, you’re likely to find yourself remembering you played this game or that one as you see them on the screen.I recommend this film to anyone looking for a good laugh, and fans of the kind of comedies that came out of the 80’sThere is some noticable grain in some of the scenes, but with a movie that’s 40 years and has more of a cult folling, the quality of the audio and video is probably the best it’s gonna get…and I don’t have a problem with that.
