Thin Pages Leads to Bleed Through
The pages are super thin which causes ink to bleed through. This notebook is not the same quality as previous Moleskine notebooks. Stay away and purchase a better notebook for the money.

Thin Pages
Pages are too thin. Feels like O can’t even write on the back of a page because the past writing shows through. Even with a pencil…

In a sucker for a Moleskin notebook
I’m a sucker for a Moleskin notebook. These are pricey, but I’ll spurge for a long-lasting, high-quality notebook. I travel a lot and the hard cover is durable. These are my favorite!

Pretty journal
I wanted a nice journal that I could enjoy for a long time. This journal is beautiful and functional. I love the color especially. I will say that the price is high considering that it’s just a journal, but I know the brand is reputable. I’m sure you could find similar for less money, but I’m happy with my purchase.

Not worth the price
I have used Moleskine pocket notebook before and it was such a nice writing experience. The lilac cover is nice but that does not compensate for the fact that the ink from gel pens bleeds substantially, same goes with highlighter. I don’t use ballpoint pen but I’d think this type of paper would work with ballpoint pens, but defintely not gel pens which I prefer due to the color options and the smooth writing experience. I would return this notebook if I could.

My go to
I’ve been journaling for most of my adult life, about 40 years as it helps me pay attention in church, record life events, and review/remember my studies. After I discovered moleskins 14 years ago, I haven’t used any other variety. Because I use 2-3 a year, my shelf of completed journals is a veritable rainbow. I also send a new one to each of my 8 grandchildren (currently 14-18) a new moleskin journal each January ( beginning at age 8.) what’s a new year without a new journal.

Lovely notebook, great for a gift and awesome color

Cute
I bought this in the emerald green color. It’s great quality and it comes with a cute bookmark 🙂

Major ghosting, still functional!
Ghosting happens! I enjoy the quality of the book but disappointed that there is some ghosting. Wouldn’t recommend for bullet journaling or for art purposes, unless you tape pages together (you can see it on the “march” page). If you’re ok with doubling up on pages, then it makes for a great journal!

Perfect for work
These notebooks are great for work

Paying for “Moleskin” only
The pages were very thin and my utensils bleed through. It should advertise the GSM. Not worth $20 at ALL

Beautiful Journal!! Great quality and I love the hidden pocket in the back of the book.

Love!!!
This journal is such a beautiful color. I love it so much! The ruling of it is similar to a college ruled which is perfect. If you like a narrow ruling, you’ll love this. If you prefer wider ruling, this is not for you! The pages are on the thin side, so if you write very heavy handed, you may not be able to write on the backs of pages. I use Pentel slicci 0.25 pens to journal in this moleskine and they work perfect and I’m able to write on the front and back of the pages with no issue! I don’t think a felt tip pen would be a good choice though. I’m so happy about this journal!

classic
perfect journal! i bought this a few years ago to start journaling for myself and fell in love with it. recently bought another one for making a journal for my boyfriend and it’s so classy and nicely put together. i wish it was a little less expensive but it’s worth it in the end.

Only Notebook I Use!!
This is the only notebook I buy for work. It is pricey, but worth every penny!

I love Moleskine notebooks. I prefer the hard classic as they hold up pretty well. The elastic band keeps the contents inside inside. The inside pocket is expandable and can hold a lot of paper. These are my go to planners/journals.

Lives up to the name
This is the quality you expect from any Moleskine product. I use mine daily! The product stands up to everyday use while still looking polished and crisp.

Classic, beautiful notebook for thoughts and ideas
This notebook is a classic choice. The paper is a great thickness. I purchased the notebook when Target put them on sale, so it is a great deal. They are a little bit pricier than other notebooks but the quality of this one is great!

I’ve been looking for something to put all of my writing in and this book is awesome! The quality of the paper, the lines aren’t that close and it allows you so much room per page. Will buy again!

Moleskine Dotted Notebook – Black Hardcover Review
while it is as a others have said a little steeply priced, it has dots, an elastic to hold it shut, a book mark ribbon and even a rear pocket which I haven’t yet looked at.
(plus to some I suppose, didn’t need that) suits what I was looking for.
black, leather looking-ish. rounded edges for easier pocket insertion too. could have paid $100 for a leather bound fancy paper one and not $20 which is in my ballpark so I am happy with it, if just for that reason alone.
can’t gather why people want museum quality parchment for calligraphy when it’s a journal. ain’t like most people are translating sea scrolls. and $20 ? just stop whining, it’s worth $20. that one you bought for $20 twenty years ago is about $50 after inflation. I wish gas was .49 a gallon again too, but I got over it… = )
can’t see why people would use calligraphy on dots or not on parchment scrolls

A Collage of Creations and Concerns
An excellent container for all half-scrabbled ideas, inspirations, and artistic spoutings. I sometimes feel as if all my life’s work has come to fruition on these pages. The missing two stars are for the unfortunate fact that this journal is addicted to getting itself lost. I haven’t been sure how to address the problem. It’s like having a toddler in the house, always getting into shenanigans and making my heart drop with fear every two minutes. What’s the point of spilling all my greatest ideas onto these precious pages if they’re only going to run away to the last cafe I was at, fall underneath my car seats, or hide in the same place I’ve already looked twelve times? Any advice on how to train a notebook would be much appreciated.
Fer: Did you really think it would be this simple?
You might have missed a major clue.

Bujo? Boo, no.
I bought this to start out bullet journaling. Everything, except pencil, bleeds through. Staedtler fineliners, Paper Mate Flair felt tip pens, Tombow dual brush pens, Pilot Frixion pens of all sizes, Pilot Precise V5, Crayola markers, and (obviously) Sharpies bleed through. If you plan to use any of these in this notebook, you will be disappointed, unless you don’t plan on using the backs of the pages. Such a waste of money. Don’t do it. Just don’t.

Love moleskin
Nice color love the quality

I love this notebook! So many pages, and the dot grid helps me design in my bullet journal. I will definitely buy this notebook again.

TERRIBLE
IT WAS TERRIBLE. I got this journal for bullet journaling, but if I wrote on thing with my calligraphy marker, it would bleed through like 5 pages. DO NOT BUY THIS.
sboeding –
Don’t waste your money
Cover of this journal is nice quality not sure what happened to the pages inside. Anything you write with including pencil can be seen on the other side of the page. I had high hopes for this journal but wouldn’t buy it again. The price doesn’t match the quality.
Kaylee –
It’s okay…
I really liked this journal. It’s perfect for my bullet journaling, except the pages are thin so my markers and calligraphy pens bleed through. I wish it came in different colors, but otherwise I thought it was a little expensive for what you get.
Lolly –
Perfect!
Perfect for my bullet journaling!

What happened, Moleskine?
Wow – this journal is much worse than what I expect from Moleskine. Everything bleeds through, and even pencil seems to leave a mark on the next page. I’ve been writing on every other page, but even that doesn’t prevent specks from the prior pages. I do love the pocket in the back, but it still doesn’t work as a journal.
srk909 –
Not the best quality
Different quality than my previous classic Moleskine. Same shape and everything but the cover smells like plastic and the pages feel very thin. I’m not sure if this is a problem with Target or Moleskine as a whole but I am disappointed. If the quality is cheaper so should the price.
Valerie –
Not the best
Pages are thin and markers/fineliners bleed through. Its difficult to tear the pages out because they’re connected and you end up taking multiple pages because it looks bad. Comes with a pocket in the back, along with a string you can use to reference the page you are on. Its kind of expensive but the dots are more aesthetically pleasing than the lines. Overall, it’s okay for people who are just starting to bullet journal, but i think it would be better to use the LEUCHTTURM 1917 which takes the “diy” aspect of the journal.

Amazing, but pages are a bit thin
I love this journal so much! The pages are a bit thin but overall it’s amazing and I write in it everyday!
LP –
Pages are too thin.
The cover is nice quality, but the pages are very thin. Like a previous reviewer said, there is a lot of bleeding through the pages. I suppose it will work for someone if they are using a pencil?
Jennifer –
I really like it a lot. Only issue is that you can’t tear pages out, I had a blank page fall out after I tore a page out because it’s held together with string. But I still really like it and would recommend it to people.

Disappointed
Don’t buy this if you are going to use anything other than pencil! All of the pens I’ve used (gel, ballpoint – both thick and thin) have bled through and/or is easily able to be seen on the next page. Very disappointed. I expected higher quality.
MNn –
Moleskine has made pages WAY thinner
The pages are so thin and you can see ink from the other side. I have purchased numerous Moleskine journals over the years and the thickness of the pages have drastically changed. Do not buy unless you want to write in pencil.

heavy bleeding and ghosting
I just bought this journal yesterday to start a bullet journal and I am very disappointed. I got this because it was recommended among bullet journalers and I thought it would be great for a beginner bullet journal like myself. I am unimpressed because the first page I used a staples fine liner pen in black and a blue tombow brush pen and the fineliner bled through completely. The whole page had a lot of ghosting and I was unable to write on the next page because of it. I then used a basic rollerball pen in black and lightly wrote on the next page and even then there was visible ghosting. It also looks as through I pushed hard on the rollerball pen yet I only wrote lightly. Overall I regret buying this journal but i’m trying to make the most of it as it was $20 and I have already written in it.
