Almost made that 5 star, minor issue with lock.
Almost perfect! I love the color. It said red, but it’s actually closer to a purplish color. I also love the side that has a zipped enclosure with a couple thick pockets. Especially since one of the those seems to be waterproof (great for things that may spill or even a wet suit). The only thing that bugs me is the TSA lock. The zippers can sometimes be awkward to twist into that lock. Not a major issue, so I’ll deal.
Also, you may want to add some sort of noticeable luggage tag on your suitcase as when I went to baggage claim there were at least three other suitcases exactly like mine. I guess it isn’t as unique as I thought. LOL

Disappointing!
Purchased just prior to a flight to the east coast. Upon arriving in Boston with the brand new checked bag, the suitcase came off of the luggage conveyor belt open with the zipper broken! I would give zero stars if that was an option! I could hardly believe it!! We are very thankful for the Boston Luggage Claim staff are who provided us a brand new hard shell suite case (Andare Monte Carlo 2)!! We had to abandon the Samsonite Amplitude at the airport. My hope is Costco will allow us to return the carry on and we will receive a full refund though we do not have the check on suite case.

Does the job – carry-on is small
We needed large suitcase and a carry-on, so this was a perfect deal. I will say, the carry-on is a lot smaller than my liking. A weekend trip would fit well in that, but if you’re someone who likes to fit a week or clothes in a carry-on, this is not for you. The features on them both are great and we’ll see how long they last – the handle is padded, a place to hang your purse on carryon, lockable, has laundry bag, zippers/compartments on the inside… Oh also the carry-on does not expand. We’ll keep them because we’re in need but not perfect for what we were expecting.

Nice looking, but poor quality
Ive always had a great experience with Samsonite, but this set just wasn’t up to scratch. My previous set lasted 8 years of heavy travel, this one last a wheel in its maiden voyage oversees. I know United doesn’t go easy on luggage, but there was no body damage to lead me to believe the bag faced any kind of extreme handling. I hadnt even had the set a month. I contacted Costco to try and get a replacement wheel, but they ended up just asking me to return it. Once again the Costco return policy saved my behind.

Silver Samsonite Amplitude Hardside Set
This is my 1st purchase of hardside luggage. I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger and purchase because of the horror story reviews that I’ve read of luggage damage. I like the warranty included on this luggage which is one of the main reasons I took a chance and purchased. Upon unboxing them, oh and the price was not bad for 2 pieces, I did notice a couple of minor scratches on them but not to where they needed to be exchanged.
I have used them several times since purchasing October 2023. They seem to hold up pretty well. I like the cushioned handle and the wheels roll smoothly. I would like to purchase a “mid sized” version of this luggage as the smaller piece is smaller than I’d like to use.

Large one cracked
I have three different set of Samsonite (2 hard set, one soft set) for my family international travel. All my other Samsonite were fine except the Blue Amplitude Large. It was cracked in one of the four stands. I had to get a tape to patch the crack. And you know what, after we got home, another crack again in one of the stand. I really like the carry on, its one of the best I ever have. Thank goodness for Costco return policy. May be the blue version is a lemon.

Description Inaccurate
The description (using the Costco App for iPhone): Expansion – All cases Expand 1″
The small 20-inch case is NOT expandable which might be a deal breaker for many. I think these descriptions are provided by third party in this case I assume Samsonite. How hard is it show a small video of both the bags and post accurate pictures? Samsonite if you are reading this expandable is not just used by people for packing more stuff. Sometimes, it’s easier to expand the bag initially, pack your stuff, then ask you wife to sit on the bag while you close all the zippers (one for the bag and one for the expansion).
Linear Inches 65.52″ (also incorrect), in fact if you scroll down, it says 62.52 (correct). This is important as most airlines restrict checked in luggage to 62 linear inches.
If you can’t find the laundry bag, its inside the carry on.
Overall quality is excellent and do need to mention Costco gave many options to solve this issue and that’s one of the reasons most people shop at Costco.

Good Luggage Should Last a Long Time
Good value, sturdy handle, smooth wheels. Dark red color is more like an eggplant color. 10 year manufacturer warranty and Costco customer service make this the better choice.

Does 1/2 inch matter?
We ordered this in September but it wasn’t until 2 weeks before our flight to the Antipodes that we discovered the overall measurement is 62.52. Airplanes typically cite 62 as being the limit. Would this overage be ignored or would we be charged the extra $200? First I wrote to Samonsite for customers comments regarding this issue. Still no response 3 days later! We didn’t want to take a chance and so returned it yesterday. Just hope the replacement – with the correct dimensions arrives in time! We don’t recommend this for international travel.
Also, the set seemed flimsy but I was going to give it a try, figuring that the savings in weight and a theoretically strong material composition would be suitable. However, the overage of .52″ was not something we wanted to gamble on.

Disappointed
I was expecting a sturdy and high quality set of Samsonite suitcase. This set does not meet my expectation because it feels cheap and indeed is kind of flimsy. The handle of both suitcases did not move up and down smoothly or lock in place easily. I had to yank it to make it lock in place (especially for the carry-on) and could not lock it at the level that I wanted. The hook is a good idea but it is way too shallow to be functional carrying a bag with thicker handles. Inside, there is only a thin lining covering the frame of the handle bars and there is no compartment for suits. Although the box said a laundry bag is included, it is not. I am going to return them.
