Good but skips a loot –
A little disappointing
I love this album, one of my favs by T swift. Packaging looked great, same thing with the inside and the vinyl itself. It works quite well, but it does skip a lot compared to some of the regular not target exclusive ones Ive bought. Its worth the money, but with songs like the 1 it skips A LOT mainly the verses, the chorus sounds fine. But songs like “exile” didnt skip at all, that one sounded fine. Same with “tlgad” which I was happy with. Obviously I expect it to skip a little, its a vinyl, it just was a lot. Still happy with the product tho!

I love folklore by Taylor Swift! This vinyl record was great, no skipping great sound quality. Vinyls were in perfect condition. Highly recommend! 🙂

Vinyls in poor condition – love the songs on the album
I love the actual songs on the album, but I am unimpressed with the quality of the item. I bought my new, in-store, sealed. When I got them home, opened them, and took them out of the packaging they were DIRTY. I’m not just talking a little residual dust from static cling. It took me at least 20 minutes using professional record cleaning supplies to get them fully clean. If I was unaware of the process of cleaning an album before you listen to it, this album definitely would’ve scratched, had crackles while listening, or even skipped a bunch. Even after getting off all of the dirt, dust, and residue, the album was scratched in a couple of places. I do not think this is necessarily target’s fault or even Taylor’s fault, but whichever vinyl pressing plant this came from should be disappointed in themselves for such poor quality vinyl, packaging, and care of their items. If this album skips or anything of the sort when I play it, unfortunately I will probably be returning it due to the poor quality and buying another copy from somewhere else.

Good item but skips
First off, I love Taylor swift and I have been so excited to come to target and get two new vinyls. Well I arrived home, put them on my record player and all sides skipped. Target, I love you but I’m so confused, you have your own versions but can’t seem to get them quite right? (for those of you complaining about “target red” it’s the long pond studio version, that’s why it sounds different than the original + different cover art)

folklore is my favorite album, so i was very excited to get the vinyl. there is a lot of skipping. there was a little bit of skipping on some songs, but the last great american dynasty is basically nonexistent. sucks because i love that one 🙁 it was horrible. there is also a foggy background sound on a lot of the songs. i saw a bunch of other reviews saying theirs skipped too, so i know it’s not just me. love folklore, but disappointed in the vinyl.

Great album, skips a bit
As others have said, it’s skips a bit, particularly through “the one” and then a in “cardigan” and “the last great American dynasty.” But other than those three side 1 songs, it’s pretty smooth. That’s why I gave it 4 stars. The content that Taylor Swift is responsible for is 5 stars. Also, Target packages their records for shipment HORRIBLY. I’m amazed it wasn’t broken in half. Do better Target, if Amazon can figure it out so can you. I didn’t deduct stars for shipping but if I had we would be down to 2 or 3.

I bought one for my wife and one song skipped. So I exchanged it and the 2nd was even worse. The next day I exchanged the 2nd one and the third one was just as bad at skipping. But get this I went ahead and tried a forth time. Even the forth one is just as bad

Folklore is simply magical and pure lyrical genius!
I’m writing this review based on the musical content of the album… Folklore is simply brilliant storytelling and songwriting! If you think you know Taylor Swift’s music, you’ll be very surprised by what you hear on this album. Every track gives us lyricism that is pure genius and more mature than many of her earlier works. The melodies range from catchy and fun to hauntingly beautiful, and there are absolutely no songs that I want to skip over when listening. It’s no wonder this album won Album of the Year at the Grammy’s a few years ago… it is simply magical and easily my favorite TS album of all time.

As much as did not like the red variant, I bought it because of the price. It is translucent. The record has its occasional pops and cracks while playing. The artwork is very beautiful. It has not skipped.

Advice for vinyl skipping !!

The red is ugly
The red is so ugly, and you can get it for cheaper on Amazon for $23. Target ruined it with the red in my opinion. Also wasn’t the highest quality, it skips a lot. I recommend buying the one from Amazon.

Folklore Target Exclusive Red Alternative Cover Vinyl
Folklore is one of my favorite Taylor albums, and it technically might be her best, the vinyl is beautiful even though folklore being red is a bit odd, 10/10 album.

Skipping
Side 1 of vinyl 1 skips throughout various songs. No issues on side 2 or on either side of the second vinyl in this set. I returned it and purchased a new one for my daughter. Same thing happened with the second one purchased. This is not a record player issue as another review mentioned. Various other vinyls are playing just as they should. We’ll be returning this one too and hope to someday replace with a full working set.

If you are having problems with skipping, it’s your record player. Not the vinyl. Suitcase record players will skip because they’re cheap. Great sounding vinyl! I use a pioneer.

Vinyl arrived to me in a thin plastic shipment bag. Card board cover of the album was bent significantly in the corner. The record was damaged and skipped terribly because of this. Do NOT have target ship your vinyls. I can’t understand why someone would ship a vinyl record without any protection.

Poor vinyl record quality – skips!
This lowe review is related to the quality of the vinyl record itself. Both copies I received (original and replacement) were skipping. I should have listened to the reviews that the quality of Target version press was low. A shame because this is the record that finally convinced me to give TS a chance. But the music is some of her best, if not still the best TS record to date.

Wonderful album
This album has such a perfect vibe for playing on record. It provides a nice ambiance when I’m doing things around the house or just want to chill and hear some T Swift. I was a little nervous buying the target exclusive due to all the comments on skipping or bad quality but I have (knock on wood) yet to have any issues with my copy. I do not have a fancy record player either… I’ve only had it two days and havent noticed skips of any kind… but perhaps it’s an issue after time and use?

This is a great album. I have listened to this album repeatedley since it came out. The lyrics are very moving and Taylor Swift’s voice repeatedley is shown to be outstanding. The versatilty in her music is amazing. I will definetley be listening again.

My other vinyl order was nicely package but this set which includes Folklore was placed in a paper thin envelope. Who mails a vinyl in a paper thin envelope?!??? Yeah so Folklore is all bent. I still need to see how 1989 TV is but very disappointed in Target packaging. Folklore the album is excellent of course. Love Taylor!

Playback quality
The first one I received, the first record I tried to play, the song Last American Dynasty skipped so badly you couldn’t understand a single word. Target was fantastic and replaced it, and the process was very easy. The second one, same record, the same song is better than the last, but just not good quality. and the entire album is a bit scratchy. I didn’t bother returning it again, but I’m disappointed in the quality of it. Not sure if there were production issues on this run. The album itself is great, and Target is easy to work with. Hopefully others don’t have the same issue.

Don’t waste your money
The sound is great which is why i kept 2 stars, but there are so many skipping problems on this vinyl that you miss half of every song. I guess there’s a possibility the problem is with my record player, but it’s brand new so i don’t think that’s the case. Disappointing to say the very least.

What I liked about the cd was that it had very great songs depending on your current mood. Although there is a few cracks on the cd case that kind of doesn’t matter to me. I just really look forward to people that get cds to make sure the case is not cracked and make sure the employees know to not crack them. But it’s a really great album. yeah…
